La Trappe Trappist
At the abbey "Onze Lieve Vrouw van Koningshoeven" in Berkel-Enschot is a subtle scent of hops, yeast and malt. Trappist beer has been brewed here since 1884. The monks of the abbey are at the origin of this beer. They are popularly called 'Trappists', after the origin of their order: the French Soligny-La-Trappe. This order is characterised by austerity, silence and the duty of charity.
"
At the end of the 19th century, a small group of Trappist monks fled from France to Berkel-Enschot. There, in the heart of Brabant, they found the former country residence of King Willem II, the "Koningshoeven". They founded their monastery there and decided to brew beer. To this day, they fill their lives here with prayer and work. In peace and quiet.
"Koningshoeven" became the birthplace of La Trappe Trappist. Here, within the walls of the abbey, "Bierbrouwerij de Koningshoeven" produces Dutch Trappist beer. Still under the supervision and responsibility of the monks and still based on the inner conviction of 'doing good': part of the proceeds go to charities. These original principles earn La Trappe Trappist the exclusive 'Authentic Trappist Product' label from the International Trappist Association.
La Trappe Trappist is pure, honest, Dutch beer. If you taste well, you will discover what enjoyment is. And discover the most important ingredient that is inextricably linked to the monks: silence.
